What Is the P-Shot®?

The P-Shot® was created by Dr. Charles Runels, who took an interest in how injectable fillers can be used to rejuvenate the face and wondered if those same principles could be applied to the penis. After researching the issue, Dr. Runels came to the conclusion that platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, a treatment that has been used in orthopedic medicine for years and has recently emerged as a popular cosmetic treatment, could have beneficial effects for rejuvenating the penis as well.

Dr. Runels developed an effective and safe method for utilizing this new discovery to improve the sexual health of male patients. Medical and wellness practices that offer the P-Shot®, like Innova Wellness Spa, must abide by strict and regulated guidelines, including using FDA-approved equipment to prepare the PRP, and be members of the Priapus Shot provider group.

Immediate Results with Zero Downtime

Following a P-Shot® appointment, patients can expect to experience little to no side effects. Because PRP is autologous, meaning taking from the patient’s own body, it has no risk of side effects or adverse reactions. The only side effects of the P-Shot® are mild soreness and bruising, which are a result of any type of injection.

Downtime is nonexistent and patients are free to resume work and even sexual activity immediately after treatment. Results will be noticeable with just a single appointment. The size and girth of the penis will increase, and it may become straighter as well. The PRP will rejuvenate the tissue and create new vascularization, increasing blood flow to the penis and resulting in stronger and harder erections.

The Painless P-Shot® Procedure

During the P-Shot® procedure, some blood will first be drawn from the arm and then put through a centrifuge machine to separate the plasma rich in growth factors and platelets from the red blood cells. The preparation takes about 20 to 30 minutes. While the PRP is being prepared, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the penis to ensure a comfortable procedure.

Once the PRP has been prepared and the numbing effects have set in, a local anesthetic called lidocaine will be injected to completely numb the treatment area. The topical numbing cream will make the initial injection of the lidocaine completely painless, while the lidocaine will ensure patients feel nothing at all throughout the duration of the procedure.

Once the patient has been thoroughly numbed, Dr. Elyaman will begin injecting the PRP into the penis at specific locations to provide even coverage of the serum’s rejuvenating effects. After injection, the procedure is complete and patients are free to leave their appointment and return to normal activities. The treatment portion takes about 15 minutes or less, making each appointment last approximately one hour with the combination of the preparation and injection stages.
